Remote Medical Assistant

The remote medical assistant is the touchstone to support the day to day support services for patients. The key to the successful medical assistant is their ability to listen, make judgments and take appropriate action. Their duties include but are not limited to the following

  • Coordinate the NP real time information exchange as they move around
  • Gather and organize action lists for clearance at schedules meetings throughout the day
  • Manage emergency events
  • Smart phone Protocol and messaging
  • Instant messaging HIPAA Secure
  • Action list in EMR
  • Manage inbound calls: Each provider team will receive from 10 to 15 inbound calls per hour from facility staff, patients and their families, hospital and specialist professionals.
  • Manage outbound calls related to orders and patient services
  • Coordinate the flow and actions around orders
  • Lab Orders
  • Prescriptions including refills and modifications
  • DME Orders
  • Letters inbound and referrals outbound
  • Documentation in EMR
  • State Reviews of Charts etc.
  • VA Paperwork
  • Coordinate with other providers and specialists who support patients
  • Documentation
  • Manage all scanning and linking of inflow and outflow of paper documents and patient charts
  • Manage and process all inbound faxes (Several hundred per week)

Scheduling

  • Fax Schedule Info and coordinate with planned visits to facilities
  • Coordinate patient visit list with staff as appropriate
